Edit just tried eating a raw garlic on it's own and I certainly don't want to repeat it. I use quite a bit in food and the olive man on the market sells a mild presered garlic that is very nice.My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

I take garlic capsules regulary as it is supposed to boost the immune system and help prevent colds and flu.
They seem too have worked for me so far this year as I havnt had the numerous chest infections I usually get ! So its a bonus to hear it is also good for cholesterol levels.Moneysaving? - I cant stop spending because of this site!0 -
The longer Garlic is cooked the sweeter it is.
When we first went to Portugal thee first time we were given a pork dish that had been roasted with garlic cloves in it.
We were persuaded to try the cloves. They were wonderful and was converted there and then.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
When a clove of garlic is crushed, the enzyme allinase mixes with aliin. A fresh-crushed clove of garlic yields 13,000mg allicin. Allicin degrades over time, so it can’t be provided in pure form in dietary supplements.
Stomach acid degrades allicin, so garlic pills need to be coated so they are protected from stomach acid, pass through the stomach, then release allicin in intestine. In US tests only 15% actually released allicin. The only garlic tablets that yielded allicin had high allinase activity and disintegrated rapidly. Some of these coated tablets pass through the digestive tract intact without disintegration of their coating, some garlic capsules are just garlic powder, which you can buy on the spice section cheaper.
The enteric coated garlic capsules made by Nature’s Way (Garlicin) consistently released allicin and I've seen research papers that say they used Garlicin
If reading the label on a garlic supplement, and it says it has "allicin potential," or actual "allicin," it is likely it's pointless. Garlic pills have other health properties, as they may thin the blood and provide sulfur and selenium, but as far as provision of allicin, it would be better to try to use more fresh crushed garlic cloves.
I've had a look at Healthspan they claimGarlic Powder – 400mg, equivalent to 1,200mg of Fresh Garlic Bulb. Alliin – 4.4mg, Allicin – 2,000mcg Healthspan 360 tablets £8.95 There's a voucher about.

If they can't or won't guarantee the Allicin / Allinase content then there's little point in buying it IMO. Same with Simply Supplements
however
