Key won't turn in window lock!

Hi
I tried to open my kitchen window this evening but the key only turns a quarter of the way in the lock. I've been searching online on what the issue is and the only solution I've found is to contact a locksmith!
I think it's a espag lock. I open the window on a daily basis so not sure why it just got stuck today. It's rather frustrating having no ventilation whilst cooking!
Going to get some WD40 tomorrow and give that a go but any other suggestions welcome!
Thanks!
Liv

wd40............Not Again0

WD40 - key in - wiggle
WD40 - key in - wiggle
repeat as neccessaryUnless it is damaged or discontinued - ignore any discount of over 25%0 -
WD40 and wiggle key - if this doesn't work then repeat with WD40 and leave for a few minutes then tap lightly with a hammer a couple of times. The tumbler thingies sometimes get stuck if they are not used.
My back door had this problem and thanks to google was sorted in 5 minutes without having to pay a locksmith vast amounts of cash

You wont need a locksmith for this LOL.
As stated above just clean it out with some wd40 or similar.
If all else fails just force it open.
It will break a little peg on the handle, it wont break the internal mech.
A new handle is a few quid from your local hardware store.0
