UTR - How long

Thanks guys appreciate your feedback, I think there is a little middleman time involved as well but they do seem slow.
The odd bit is that no feedback from HMRC on the rebate on the P87, we shall see what they come back with when challenge.0 -
Just an update the UTR turned up today, hooray!!
So how long to get my cheque back!!0 -
Self-assessment online refunds take between 5 days (yes, once!) and a month in my experience, depends on whether a run is imminent. Just give your accountant a sort code and account number for the refund to go to. Note that the earlier years will take longer as paper tax returns are needed and they often get completely lost in the farcical mail queue. For the online ones, I send clients e-mailed PDFs when submitted so they know exactly when and what I have submitted. I monitor these refund submissions because in about 10% of cases the refunds are blocked, almost always for no valid reason in my experience.
This is HMRC we are talking about here. So naturally when a block is put on a tax refund it never occurs to them to tell either the taxpayer or the agent that the refund has been blocked, they are required to find out by a process of telepathy.Hideous Muddles from Right Charlies0 -
What appears on your bank statement may not be intelligible to you, at least using the on-line system you have your own figure of what it should be.
In my case, being an executor in the middle of a snowstorm of strange payments, the HMRC effort was the only one I did not recognise. Never did get a statement of how it had been calculated, but as it was larger than my back of the envelope calculation, I accepted it.0 -
Just to finish this off I just received my cheque from the hmrc so from gaining a UTR to being paid out only has taken 4 months.
I'm lucky if it's 4 days when the funds are going back in the coffers!!!0
