Recycling Aerosals

My council takes empty aerosals, providing you take all obvious plastic off.

However, I'm dubious about this as it clearly says on the cans, don't pressurise or pierce. I'm worried in the heat of a recycle bin, especially in the summer, they could explode

What does everyone think?

  • Well what happens then when it gets sent to landfill and goes in the back of the bin lorry? The big metal thingy that squashes all the waste up is bound to puncture cans? I wouldn't have thought that enough heat would build up in the bin to cause any problem, especially if there are oy=ther materials in there as well, perhaps I'm wrong?

Anyone else got a view on this??
  • The wheellie bin won't get hot enough..
as teenagers we used to take used large industrial ones from the Hairdressers bin and put them on a bonfire
Too see how much a bang they would make... and they needed to be on the fire for two/three minutes before it pressured and blew up.. So unless you are planning on having a fire in your wheelie bin I don't think they will blow.
