Hi there everyone!
We are getting wed next year and have negotiated corkage
.
Our next challenge is to spot any 25% 6 bottles or more events at the supermarkets - having done some research it seems that this is the easiest way of getting bottles of half decent plonk for under £5
Does anyone know which supermarket will have such an offer on - and when will it be?
Cheers guys

Best to find out what out what wines people like as you don't want to disappoint anyone on the day. A wine connoisseur perhaps?
Try the following.
Quaffers Offers
mySupermarket
HotUKDeals
Majestic Wines (Majestic Wines sells wine by the crate, also mentioned on Quaffers Offers)
Laithwaites
&
Virgin Wines
You should be able to find some decent voucher codes for Laithwaites and Virgin Wines. Try searching HotUKDeals, the voucher board, and near the bottom of this page you'll find a search box for finding vouchers. Have also used both and can highly recommend them.
Might be a little cashback as well.0 -

You've just missed the last T*sco one i'm afraid but as your wedding is not till next year there should be another one along soon (they normally do a few a year). If you want the 25% off 6 bottles you may want to also look at any instore offers closely as well, like 3 for £12. Sometimes T*sco and asd* put £10 bottles in the 3 for £12 so you'll get 6 bottles of £10 a bottle wine for £24 then with the 25% off aswell that £18. you can also return any bottles not drunk and they will refund you.You can't polish a turd
But you can roll it in glitter0 -
Incidentally, the following wine list from Aldi might be worth considering. I've pick the best of the crop:
ALDI 2009 Bushland Reserve Shiraz, Australia, 75cl, Alc. 13.5% - £3.99
ALDI 2009 Cambala Chenin Blanc, Western Cape, South Africa, 75cl, Alc. 12% - £3.49
ALDI 2009 Freeman's Bay Winemakers Reserve Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, New Zealand, 75cl, Alc. 13% - £5.49
ALDI 2008 Toro Loco Tempranillo, Utiel - Requena, Spain, 75cl, Alc. 12.5% - £3.49
ALDI 2008 Vignes de St Pierre Vermentino and Sauvignon Blanc, France, 75cl, Alc. 13% - £3.99
ALDI 2009 Budavar Pinot Grigio, Felso-Magyarorszag, Hungary, 75cl, Alc. 11.5% - £3.79
ALDI Baron Saint Jean Blanc, Vin de Pays du Gers, South West France, 75cl, Alc. 11.5% - £2.99
ALDI Burlwood Californian Chardonnay, California, 75cl, Alc. 12.5% - £3.79
ALDI Bushland Grape Selection, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, S . E. Australia, 75cl, Alc. 13.5% - £5.99 - Think it might be this one as it matches the picture on the website I find this on though says Shiraz Cabernet Merlot and not Cabernet Sauvignon. It's the same price and is also an award winning wine as well.
ALDI Viña Decana Crianza, Utiel - Requena, Spain, 75cl, Alc. 12.5% - £3.99
These rate form 8: Very high quality and 9: Worth every penny. The cheapest here is £2.99 which scores a 9. Can't guarantee you'll find any of these in Aldi though go armed with the above list if you decide on any of these. The ones with links are the only ones I could find on their website.
Most of Aldi's wines are award winning wines e.g. Viña Decana Reserva for £4.99 has a Silver International Wine Challenge 2010 award. I don't know if that means much though I'm sure it could be a good guide to what to avoid if your unsure what to purchase.
There are also some fairly good supermarkets own brand wines as well which also score quite high for under a £5, if you want me to post them then let me know.
Also, do bear in mind that the prices on the above list may have gone up since last posted.0 -
While I'm thinking of it, Valladolid is also a fantasic producer of wines, you most definitely can't go wrong. The ones that fall under the Designation of Origin Cigales are very good. White wines from Rueda and red wines from Ribera del Duero are also known for their quality.
My Spanish girlfriend pointed out to me that the top two on the list for wine from Valladolid are the Queen, followed by Julio Iglesias.
Valladolid is located in the region of Castile-Leon which is also renowned for it's wine producing.
Here are a couple you might like to consider:
Tesco Finest Ribera Del Duero 75Cl £5.49 for a single bottle, normally £7.79 and is valid until 04/10/2011. Tesco Wines have this for £21.36 per case, equivalent to £3.56 per bottle. See here.
Spanish Steps Rueda 75Cl from Valladolid £5.24 normally £6.99 - valid until 04/10/2011 at Sainsbury's
Storks Tower Sauvignon Blanc Verdejo 75Cl and Storks Tower Tempranillo Shiraz 75Cl are also from Valladolid and were selling in Tesco for £4.49 though they are not currently online, you could check in store though. These normally sell for around £7. Tesco Wines have Storks' Tower Tempranillo-Shiraz Rose though these are £6.45 per bottle.0 -
Oh my goodness! I wasn't expecting so much help, thanks so much *Lugh_Chronain* I will check out ALL of your advice!
Thanks guys, we really appreciate it0 -
Incidentally, you can get bottles of Vega de la Reina Verdejo 2008/2009 Marques de la Concordia, Rueda at Majestic Wine £5.99 if you buy two. Not sure what the limit is in ordering as I've never ordered from them, most likely you'll need to buy a crate, not sure either if there's any discount codes.
Virgin wines sells bottles of Domaine Chante Cigale du Pape Blanc 2010 but for £19.99 a bottle ! Would imagine it's good wine though, and you can see why the Queen drinks wine from the region of Castilla y Leon!
There's also a few Virgin wines vouchers which can be found here. You might even be able to get a few bottles of Castillo de la Luna Sauvignon Blanc Viura 2010 which is selling for £8.99 a bottle with the amount of discount they are offering. Delivery is £6.99 by the way so may have to factor that in as well.
Good luck fraggles and all the best for your wedding day next year!0 -
I've just noticed on mySupermarket that they also have a mySupermarketWine section on their website as well. Might be worth checking out if you would like to compare the types of wine you intend purchasing.0

Link below for £40 off a £99.99 box of 12 bottles of wine from Laithwaites.
£59.99 for 12 bottles will hit your £5 a bottle target. I've been getting wine from them, on and off, for ages and very rarely come across a wine I don't like.

Also you can join there wine plans (as a new customer i.e set up a new email/account with them) and get 12 bottles for £39.99. I joined this particular one and the wine was lovely. It is a wine plan so you can either take future cases from them for £70 or cancel it at any time. There's never any bother if you want to cancel, which is what I did after my £39.99 case.

Incidentally, if you haven't bought any wine yet, I thought this guys advice was very good. Might be worth checking.0
