help needed what job can I do

I am needing to change my job. I am on the sick as the company I work for can not offer me a possition in there company as of my medical condition and any job they could offer would be a promotion and they will not do that. My medical condition was caused by work which they are debating. I have got radial tunnel, carpal tunnel and tennis elbow in both arms the left worse than the right. At times i can not even pick up a cup of tea and my hands freeze or open and make me drop things. Has anyone got any ideas about what sort of job I could do and wheather you think that an employer would employ me. I have been told that I cant do any lifting pushing pulling or carrying or use any sort of vibratory equipment and even using a computer hurts

  • You did a repetitive job yes?
Order of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. What should have happened?: banks go bust and we lost our money much quicker

I've had a think about it and what seems to be from your description of problems you can't be sure that you can touch anything with definate confidence that your hands will do what you want.
On that basis I can't see how you can do anything, how can you influence your surroundings? I then thought of call centre work but even that involves a keyboard.

Spoke to someone who had similar problem but not nearly as mojor and it sounded like some things are ok, and that the main problem is picking things up - you pick it up, next thing you know it's on the floor and you bearly notice. In this case is may be possible to do call centre, or something where dropping doesn't matter so much, security man?

I started to get RSI after doing a repetitive job. Fortunately it was a temp student job so I was able to quit it as well as stopping using my computer and guitar. I now still have trouble with the mouse so I'm looking into getting a sideways mouse or touchpad, fortunately keyboard's ok.

Good luck and sorry no genious ideas. Though lifeguard did pop into my mind

  • I have Erbs palsy in my right (dominant) arm and wear and tear (yes im only 34!) in my left shoulder and hips, due to overuse....so similar if not worse problems than yours.
I work in a bingo hall.....sometimes the bar, sometimes the fast-food cafe, sometimes sorting the money and shouting claims.
Sure, i drop the odd glass or plate of food......so what???

IMO, your problems will only be problems if you let them be problems!
Pop your painkillers if you have to (personally i dont, just work through the pain) and just get on with it! Sorry to be so blunt, but ive put up with this for 34 years and i KNOW that mithering gets you nowhere!
