bits and bobs for party bags or stocking fillers...

Thought id try and start a new thread seen as ive been shopping this weekend to try to make cheap party bags for my boys birthday party.
Picked up loads of little bits and managed to make bags for less than a pound each.
Picked up the following...
three gift bags for a pound uk discount
three balls £1 uk discound
eight party bags for a quid tesco
set of six mini board books 99p the works - split into six bags
six flower keyrings 50p tesco to split
Two tubs or plasticine and two cutters 11p tesco - will split into two gifts!
Six pencils with animal toppers 75p tescos - to split
bags of snacks and branded sweets from poundland

By buying cheap items with several little bits budgets can be stretched pretty far. Wondered if anyone else had managed to grab any cheap goodies. Im stocking up now so i have a stash for future parties or xmas stocking fillers!

  • i'm a teacher and always on the look out for little bits for my prize box -
wilkinsons do a set of 10 stretchy creatures (lizards or frogs) for £1, these go down a treat with boys and girls, sets of 12 plastic gem rings approx 80p and 6 curly straws £1 also lots of other bits in sets of 3/4 that are 50p and also 3 for 2, sharpeners, rubbers, note books, pencils, highlighters etc!
Home bargains - glow sticks, make into bracelets, 15 in a pack for 99p
Slightly more expensive but also worth a look are the pocket money bits in Hawkins Bazaar - poppers, bouncy balls, spinning tops, mini notepads and mini gliders all 25p!

In Asda today they had a pack of 4 small plastic water guns reduced from 50p to 12p.
Got 8 packs for the party we're having, along with the sweets from costco.

Mr T's had hello kitty sandwich boxes for 10p the other day (there is a seperate thread for this) which could be used for girls to put toys in instead of party bags. I bought 6 the other day for my little girls party
  • Oooh forgot to mention kunfu panda tumblers at 4p in tesco too. Nice useable gift but my sons a bit small. Wish id picked a couple up to save but these things go out of fashion so quick.

  • In Tesco's today, mini clipboards, little packs of 3 highlighters, mini pens with approx 6 different colours, tortoise and ladybird sharpeners, packs of 3 ladybird erasers and feet shaped sharpeners and erasers all reduced to 12p! Best bit is that they're on 3 for 2 as well! Great for party bags. Hth x

My local barnados store had a small clear box - say 4in x5in and an inch deep with a "donated by tesco" sticker on and inside were tiny little rolls of coloured Sellotape, erasers, heart shaped paper clips etc - there was about 20 pieces inside I'd say. They were priced up at 99p.

They also had a pack of 20 disposable kids table mats with pictures to colour on them and 4 crayons for £1.89 - they have a peel off sticky strip so that they don't move too! (they have a hygienic blurb on them too I think) if I remember correctly they were called something like great kid disposable mats?
To infinity and beyond - but mostly to Tesco!:D
  • I have always found Wilkinsons to be good for cheap childrens stationary bits, they do some lovely animal pencils and sharpeners for about 35p.
