Advice

Oh Worry of worries Will my apointment with Payplan be a non event if most of my debt is being handled by debt collection agencies!! Christ if so what do i do now? As I doubt the CCCS will take me on again

  • dont see why pay pal wouldnt take you on as you are trying to pay your debt. dca dont want to receive payments for less than what they think is required but if you cant pay this, then you can only pay what you can.

if paypal wont take you on i would write to the dca's and advise that you are on a self administered dmp (possibly throw the cccs name into it). ask them to stop interest advise them this is all you can afford. keep an income / expenditure statement.

this is all cccs & paypal would do anyway, you will probably find they wont accept what you offer but send the payments anyway every month and re iterate this is all you can afford. they will always take what you send them.

hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge on the subject will advise you better
  • Hi, as a debt adviser - I find it easier to deal with debt collection agencies (DCA's) than the original creditor in most cases...

With the original creditor, interest and charges are usually being applied to the account and it can be hard to persuade the creditor to stop making these charges and accept reduced or token payments to the account.

However, bt time the account is with a DCA, the interest and charges have already usually stopped and the DCA's do generally tend to accept the offers made...

I will point out this is my experience as an adviser and understand 'debtors' sorting things out themselves have different experiences...

So - I cant envisage Payplan having any serious problems getting the offers accepted.. the nly problems will be ensuring the letters are going to the right DCA as they do tend to switch DCA every blooming month.. if this happens - keep Payplan updated...
