Christmas Present Ideas to take to Lapland?

We are going to Lapland over xmas and new year. I am really struggling with ideas for gifts for the kids (ds14, dd6) and hubby. As we go on 23rd I will do the obvious and wrap up loads of new clothes which they will need anyway but other than that and ski passes I haven't got a clue what to get them all. Obviously luggage space will be limited but christmas wouldnt be the same without stocking fillers.

Has anyone got any ideas on what I can take, they must be practical and usable whilst in Lapland.

  • Been to lapland over christmas - fabulous:j
Handwarmer thingies - the gel packs that you can reactivate
    festive packs of mini tissues
nice small packs of munchies for when you're in the hotel back from activities & awaiting feeding time
Can you find stuff to put on a snowman - hat/scarf etc - maybe visit a charity shop & make up a "snowman kit"
    hat/gloves/scarves
    THERMAL liners for your gloves
    thermal socks
    baselayer thermal T shirts
(trust me - anything thermal is worth it)
VERY warm hats - maybe a funny one (we used disney ones - snowman/smas tree etc)
Do you have a portable dvd player? take festive dvds - can't remember much about the TV....

Does the hotel/complex have a pool? Ours did & we had a great time. Maybe small inflatable beach ball (wilkinsons 25p in sale at present)

Hope that helps but will have a think....

  • i know this dosnt answer your question but why not do xmas when you return home from your holiday that way you have two things to look forward to and you dont have to struggle to find the space and the use for things you do get..why not take like a little present each that can be used while o holiday then have the rest at home when you return....think this is what i would do!

    :D
  • Thanks both.

I am planning on taking loads of thermals and things, I've been before so I know how cold it can be.

I like the idea of the sweets, I think I might make them into little cones or bags so they look nice and xmassy.

I couldn't imagine only taking 1 present each, for us christmas is all about the presents, we go a little crazy buying them all so it really wouldnt be the same with only one each. We are having another Christmas day when we get home with all our family and friends :D

I've also been before and had a great time :j
  • first time we went was for christmas - we took out some fairy lights (and travel plug) so to give the cabin a christmassy feel

our children were 7 and 10 so were still into santa so we took a suitcase full of stuff, a wii, snowman making kits and basically everything they were going to get for christmas we lugged out there with us - hats and funky gloves are a good idea, and if they are into skiing then get them a load of ski clothes or even their own skiies and/or boots (if they dont have them already) - the other thing you could do if they ski, is give them a learn to snowboard package - most kids I know who ski want to snowboard as its (apparently) way cooler

remember to take out crackers too but put them in your hold baggage

    where are you going btw?
