Think organisation is the key, made a meal plan for this week and already have been able to save those for next week as I found other things lurking in the freezer!
You might be right about the school dinners, maybe the portions aren't big enough?
Also, have to stop buying snacks, made buns at the week-end and tray bakes with my DS last week, much more fun and cheaper too!

Came back from Tesco this morning and they currently have 1.5kg chickens on a buy one get one free so 2 for £4. These might help stretch your budget for next week a bit further...

...I know some people don't like buying the really cheap chickens but when you're on a strict budget they can really help.

I've totally stopped school dinners for my kids and instead I send them with a big box of pasta salad (Smartprice pasta, Smartprice pesto, chopped frankfurter/ham, Smartprice tinned sweetcorn topped, handful of rocket topped with a little grated cheese and black pepper), homemade pizza (cheese scone base topped with diluted tomato and garlic puree, a pinch of mixed herbs, cheese and other toppings such as ham, mushroom etc) or sandwiches made from leftover cold meat etc. Works out much cheaper than a school meal and also more filling.

As a snack suggestion, I made a batch of these the other day, took no time at all, were absolutely delish and also cheap as chips-

added a large handful of Smartprice raisins to the mix after cooking in the microwave and topped with melted Smartprice dark chocolate after cooling :)
Thanks to everyone who posts comps, I love winning prizes big and small

Thanks for the chicken and flapjack tips, I'm not fussy about chicken anymore, can't afford to be!
I have calculated my food shopping this week and it is roughly £55, so have £15 left for the week-end, genius!!!
Don't know whether this will work next week as I didn't buy any meat this week, but those special offer chickens may help!!
    Quite pleased, this is do-able!!!:T
