We're getting a band for £600 and they will play music inbetween. Granted it is a friends band, but I think £575 for a dj is a HUGE amount. That said there is nothing worse than having a bad dj! Avoid at all costs the ones who tell you off for not dancing!

    Hi

I'm checking the venue re their sound system for the ceremony, I think they have a speaker system set up but just checking.

We do need to mic's, the best man isn't very loud and don't think he would get people's attention so we were actually thinking of getting a toastmaster if not, so this would be much easier (I don't really want a toastmaster but we may have to get one to annouce speaches if not)

    .

Our toastmaster said that having a Mic when your nervous is actually worse as you tend to fiddle and that you really dont need a mic. We had a fairly big ish room and we didnt have one and people heard everything fine.

As for background music the venue will definately be able to help, I guaruntee you it will be aresquest they have had countless times before.
how big is your room and how many guests are you having? i really doubt your best man needs a mic--- and toastmaster-- our wedding coordinator did this- and charged nothing- so dont get conned into paying for one too- its only someone speaking loudly and announing stuff!

Its not often I disagree with Sammy... but a Toastmaster isnt just someone talking loudly at all...

We couldnt justify the cost of one and I was firtunate enough that my mum offered to pay. He was a godsend. Not only on the day but before. He met with us several times to get a feel for our family situation and what sort of day we wanted. He guided us on areas we had no idea on such as how the day was to run. On the day he acted as a go between for us and the venue, keeping them well up to date on our movements so they could keep the wedding breakfast timings on track and adjust accordingly so the food wasnt ruined. He helped our photographer get everyone for the pics. (no mean feat) he did all the 'loud' talking for announcing us in and speeces etc. and even though he didnt have to he stayed on all day and waited to announce our cake cutting and first dance. All whilst minglking with guests. The feedback we had from guests was lovely and it also gave it that sense of organised trafitional wedding.

Anyway back to the point! :rotfl:

Our disco was £300 and that was him arriving from 6pm until 1am. The playlists yours suggested isnt a unique thing. We gave our DJ a list of 'banned' songs and also a copy of our first dance music and a request for what was to play after it then the rest was down to him. Although we did chat about what sort of stuff we wanted.

I think the quote you have is a tad on the high side.

    I've been Money Tipped!
The quote you have is a little high but to be honest if you really liked him then I'd be tempted to tell him so. Who knows what discount you could get!
