Wine gums overprice...Tesco extra...

I find going to Tesco a really unpleasant experience. I had a 20p voucher off frozen vegetables but it wouldn't scan. They told me that potatoes aren't vegetables! They called the duty manager but she said if it doesn't scan she couldn't do anything so I should go to customer services. I had quite a lot of frozen food and there were 10 people in the queue so I gave up.0

@ Mljam, do you know what time the prices get update/changed overnight? Is it bang on 12 or does it vary?
(You do realise you're going to be bombarded with questions now:D)0 -
I perhaps shouldn't post this  but oh well I'm going to anyway! I work for tesco (2nd job in evening to cover bills not through choice!) and this week had to redo some training, which every single member of tesco HAS to do every year, it's called 3 point check and is all to do with pricing, one of the questions is ..... What is our policy on customer over charge, and the answer (provided by management) is , refund double the difference every time.

So don't back down when cs try to refuse you stand your ground every time, if need be ask for a manager and question the staff members training?!
Sorry if this is a bit long winded
thanks for this, the next time we get refused DTD we could say have you not had the 3 point check training?0 -

I would have dumped the frozen food there and gone to another Tesco (just on principle). Then when I got home I would have phoned and complained, and suggested the merits of training as to what constitutes a vegetable! They can manually enter the coupon if you have brought the product and it is in date ... Still not too late for a phone call ...0 -

I don't mind getting asked questions and will help when I can, I've had lots of good tips off of others in here.
I don't know for definate on the timings, but I think it's store specific, the price integrity team, have to take off the old SEL and scan the new one when it gets put, then it updates the system with the price change, there are sometimes up to 4000 changeovers a night.
When it comes to promotions ending, they are nationwide and change automatically at midnight, and with the price guys busy putting up prices all over the store they often don't gave time to take down promotion labels which ends up in our lovely DTD
Hope this has helped and not confused you all.Target - 33lbs
Progress so far- 12 1/2 (then Christmas happened)

I had this once at my store. I'd wanted to buy four packs of Riverway sausages (to stick in the freezer) which had a red label stuck on them saying £2 each. They scanned at £4.38 each. CS refused to do DTD (which would have come to £19.04 vs my spend of £17.52). I politely pointed out that the sign behind her was part of our contract and applied to my purchase. She reluctantly put the refund through.recovering_spendaholic wrote: »I bought these and took them back and they would only offer me a refund and took back the wine gums - no DTD offered, and when I asked the CSA said that it didn't apply - she was really really rude and as there was a queue behind me I didn't argue.
The sign I'm talking about is located behind the customer service desk and starts "If things don't add up".0 -

Errmmm... they were right. Potatoes aren't vegetables, they are tubers - herbaceous perennials known scientifically as Solanum tuberosum.
This could explain why the voucher wasn't working, unless you meant that the bar code was damaged or something.0 -
Maybe they should have a 'Tubers' isle :eek:Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0

I wonder how many people know that potatoes are classified as tubers and are therefore not veg. I certainly knew they were tubers but didn't realise that it ruled them out as veg.
If I had a 20p coupon off fresh fruit, would Tesco accept tomatoes?
Thanks for your reply, it's all good fun.0 -
