5.17% 5 yrs fixed fee free

I got news from the mortgage advisor that the 5 yrs fixed fee free deal at 5.17% is ending on the 12th January (tomorrow). This is because they are starting run out of the monies. They said all will be gone by 12ish.

I have fixed mine at the right time since the BOE is not 5.25%. Great deal. Not complaining now since barclays etc tracker is 0.19% above the barclays bank of england.

Oh well. Hope no more rises until summer. Us consumers are really feeling the pocket since christmas!

Oops. Yeah HSBC. No booking fee. The sale on this rate has been a big hit and was mean't to finish on the 31st January and due to the massive demand is certain to finish tomorrow. Apparently, only around 50 million is left at this rate of 5.17%.

  • I phoned for mine on the 5th and the documents arrived today, we read them, signed them and they went in the post tonight. The letter was an "offer letter" stating that the offer was valid until the 4th of feb. Am I right in assuming we've definitely got the deal and the signing on the dotted line was just to complete it or could we be too late?

I sent my forms back on Tuesday and spoke to them yesterday ans was told it will be OK, best thing to do is go online and use there web chat service ask them the above question and see what they say.
  • I'll give the mortgage centre a ring and find out on Monday, it's just bugging me slightly because hubby just got a payrise and I was starting to see a tiny glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel. If we don't get this deal it's not going to leave us destitute or anything but it will swallow up the extra money we're going to have. Ah well, fingers crossed, I'm 90% sure because the letter said "offer" it will be ok but will have a double check.

Absolutely spot on! This deal was withdrawn at midday yesterday due the overwhelming success of it. A new offer is on the website today

HSBC have a new rate at 5.5% for 5 years. Basically the same as the above but not 5.17%. If you booked the rate at 5.17% its valid until the end of 31st January 2007. Basically, the application has to be completed by the end of 31st January 2007.

    Some people were really lucky.

  • Yes I phoned them this morning and it all seems fine according the the lovely chappie I spoke to. We've had the motgage with HSBC since November 2003, 2 years fixed at 3.99% then onto SVR so this is fab for us. Going to save £40 a month, plus hubby just got a rise and is bringing home an extra £40 a week. Maybe my little car will get new tyres eventually and the credit card bills will start to shrink instead of grow!
