What's a really good recipe book for frugal cooking

I've got a student type one and a Delia Smith one, but the Delia one still has some quite expensive recipes and the student one is quiet bland and unimaginitive.

Hi geckofabulous,
I rarely follow exact recipes but a lot of people on Old Style recommend the More with less cookbook
This thread may help too:
recipe book recommendations please
I'll add your thread to the second link later, once you've had more replies, to keep the recommendations together.

Hi geckofabulous,
The best frugal recipes I have found are the ones right here, on the recipe thread! Have you got a slow cooker? I am a recent convert to them, and they do make cheap food taste much, much nicer. I have a half price (£2.50) fresh chicken from Mr. T in mine right now, smelling delicious ....
Good wishes, the cake.0 -
Hi, I have this book and find I return to it often:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Freezing-Food-Budget-Sara-Lewis/dp/0862422078
The recipes always turn out well.
Healthy eating aim per day: 3 fruits, 3 or more vegetables, 3 low-fat dairy portions, 3 starch portions, 2-3 lean protein portions.
Weekly aim: to include 2 portions of fish (one oily), some nuts, seeds, beans and pulses.0 -

Me too, I've just acquired one that has been sitting in a cupboard for years collecting dust. Now that I have cleaned it up I am going to give it a try this weekend with some pork chops I have in the freezer. Suppose I should try plugging it in to see if there are any signs of life in it before I defrost the chops.;)2026 Grocery Spends

Has anyone recommended this one yet:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Family-Healthy-Balanced-Little-Kitchen/dp/1905862156
'How to feed your family a healthy balanced diet' - some recipes are a little bit basic, but they're all easy and cheap to make, and it's the kind of stuff most kids will eat. Some good advice regarding packed lunches too, and some weekly shopping and recipe plans at the back.
I love the sainsburys 'feed your family for a fiver' ones too, and you don't have to buy the ingredients from there.
Netmums have a good section on their website which includes sample weekly menu plans and recipes.
Also, I've found that cookbooks aimed at students are great for really cheap recipes - just multiply quantities as needed.0 -
Hi,
On that I swear by is: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Family-Healthy-Balanced-Little-Kitchen/dp/1905862156/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1315584614&sr=8-1
It's got recipes and meal plans and general tips and advice. Winner!
