they had a policy of getting people out on placement as soon as they could. ideally they would like there to have been a chance of a job but their priority was getting people on placement and keeping the companies happy with a constant flow of people.
i find it hard to believe that it is more costly for an employer to take someone for free than employ them. if that were true then they would only ever take people if they were genuinely looking to employ them and they would employ them pretty quickly. - it works both ways, the employer gets to preview the candidates at work, sort of a long interview!

Thats why things have changed, it used to be a rubbish system where all that mattered was getting as many people as possible through training courses to get funding much better now as most of the payments are based on the outcomes. (jobs for the long term)
And yes, I am proud of the programmes I am involved in and the companies I deal with.

the last scheme i went on they could not find placements for all. We had to spend 4 weeks in the classroom doing crosswords and quizzes etc. It was nothing about getting a job it was dont know what else to do with you so will keep you busy in a classroom.
If that happened now, the provider would not get paid for you attending so would work a lot harder to ensure something good came out of it!!0 -
the appeal of new deal for employers was they could have someone for free for a long time. with the newer programmes they cant have them for a long time. so its less appealing for them. so thats why it is now harder to find placements for people. the plus side from this is that a larger percentage of placements they do find are likely to be genuinely looking to employ. how larger that percentage is i dont know.the last scheme i went on they could not find placements for all. the provider i am with now has done s*d all for me so far. we have a progress review every 2 or 3 weeks and thats it. one bloke had his scheduled for 4.15pm, at 4.30pm he got told to go home as they had a meeting. progress reviews seem to be just a case of putting people on a computer and leaving them to it. i've got a sheet with various targets to achieve. one target is to register with a certain website. i have asked several times for help with it and each time i have either got told sorry i dont know how to do that or dont worry theres plenty of time to do that.saintjammyswine wrote: »Thats why things have changed, it used to be a rubbish system where all that mattered was getting as many people as possible through training courses to get funding much better now as most of the payments are based on the outcomes. to be honest if they cant be helpful then i prefer them to leave me alone as much as they seem to be at the moment.0 -
I was supposed to restart the work programme why i dont know i have only just finished on it? Its just more of the same.
I have found another course to go on and they have said i can instead of going on work programme. Find yourself something else if you can and stall going back on it. Its such a waste of time.:footie:0 -

if you were on fnd after the work programme started then they had a rule to transfer you straight onto it. you found something else? what? they got rid of everything else around here years ago. things like job club, programme centres, work training schemes were you gained qualifications etc all disappeared.I was supposed to restart the work programme why i dont know i have only just finished on it? Its just more of the same.

I'm over 25 and last worked in January so the 12 months doesnt come into it here??donnajunkie wrote: »a jobcentre worker told me long term refered 3 months after last thing they did. under 18's after 6 months, under 25's after 9 months and over 25's after 12 months.
so whatever group you are in once you have done 2 years you will get 3 months breathing space before starting another 2 years. thats assuming they dont have something else lined up for people to do next. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0
