What is 'The Work Programme' ?

I have an interview about it today at 4pm with my job centre cosultant and have no idea what The Work Programme is. I have been on JSA for 2 years now, although came off it for 7 months in that time as I got a temp job. I have done a year at a recruitment place called working links which put me on 3 work placements and around 10 different courses (CV, Retail, etc). Will this be similar?

And before anyone asks why I haven't got a job by now it's simple. No qualifications apart from basic maths and english and no driving license. Can't afford to learn to drive and am in the process of building my qualifications up at College.0

On jsa for 2 years, jeez, i take it you have trie dthe usual avenues for jobs, what about xmas temp jobs. You dont need qualifications to work in retail.0

I have done plenty of christmas temp jobs. I worked for 3 years (18-21) before I was made redundant, so it's not like I want to be on benefits. I live in a small town so work isn't easy to come across. On jsa for 2 years, jeez, i take it you have trie dthe usual avenues for jobs, what about xmas temp jobs. Yes, it will be similar although the focus will be more on the job outcome than the training for its own sake.0

Is there work placements too?saintjammyswine wrote: »Yes, it will be similar although the focus will be more on the job outcome than the training for its own sake.0 -
There should be. Do you know who the main contractor/provider is? E.g. Maximus or A4E?0

no 1 wants to be on jsa, i had enough of jsa after 5 months but was lucky that a job came up which i was offered. Can you relocate closer to where there are jobs that dont require you to have a car0 -
I think it's A4E. It's at a place called in training.saintjammyswine wrote: »There should be. Do you know who the main contractor/provider is? E.g. Maximus or A4E?0 -
A4E are the main contractor who have the contract in your area (along with 1 other, there are always 2 in each area). In Training will be the subcontracted provider of the training, you will then in all likelyhood go onto a work placement arranged by A4E with one of their partner employers in your area. I am guessing it will have a retail slant from your background and so the placement may be for example in a retail shop for 4 weeks. You still have to sign on, get your JSA and can claim travel, childcare and replacement care costs from JCP although this must be agreed before you start the programme. Good luck0

Thanks for the reply
Not sure how it is fair that they'll possibly be sticking me on another work placement seeing as I have already done 3 work placements which were 4 weeks each. Nevermind, got to do it. 0
