Wool Quilt

Has anyone any experience of a wool quilt?

I am looking to get my son a new quilt, it has to be light, and warm so was looking at feather ones and came across woollen ones too.
I have no knowledge on the woollen ones, no one to ask abt them, and as they are in the shop ordering book, I can't see, touch, play with it.

Would u recommend one?

I made a wool quilt for myself some years ago. Depending on cost and if the wool has been pre treated to be machine washable, they can be a problem to clean as they'll normally shrink in the wash despite your best efforts in the wool cycle!
Also, some people find wool next to the skin scratchy...I do and have to have a buffer layer between me and wool.
Having said that, wool is fabulous for keeping you warm, feels very touchable and looks great, and so long as it can be easily cleaned, keeps it's good looks for a long time. :)
Re weight, the feather ones are liable to be lighter than the wool ones.

  • This isn't the one I seen, but it looked similar to this http://www.sleepcheaper.co.uk/Memory_Foam_Mattress_Pages/quilts_and_duvets.htm
The one I seen was around £50 from t-direct, but that's too pic heavy to view from my fone.

Oops, my mistake, sorry! I was thinking old fashioned patchwork quilt. *Blush* :D
Those kind of quilts are excellent, a friend has one and swears by it over and above feathers!

  • When I'm next at debenhams I'm going to check their, see if I can get a touch etc... plus I have a gift card for their, a big £30 :) so it won't really cost me as much (don't count gift cards as 'my money' but money off)
