Should I reapply?

I currently have a mortgage with HSBC and want to move house.
However, when I applied to port my existing mortgage and borrow the extra I needed, HSBC declined my application on the basis of a returned DD payment in June. This was a mix up with a new company taking the direct debit but HSBC told me that I was welcome to reapply in three months.
I managed to get another mortgage with someone else but am now being hit with a hefty ERC for leaving HSBC.
Although my new mortgage has been formally offered, I'm thinking about reapplying to HSBC on the off chance that it'll be approved this time as, even after losing the valuation and product fee from the mortgage offer I have now, I'd be thousands of pounds better off.
However, it's not been a full 3 months since I last applied to HSBC (July) I'm in a chain so can't afford to wait any longer if I can change my mortgage provider.
So my question is, should I reapply to HSBC on the off chance that they might approve my application now or could a new application and potential decline on my credit report jeopardise the mortgage offer I already have from another bank?
