First time buyer looking for YBS mortgage advice

Hi there, thanks in advance for your help
My offer on a property was accepted so it's now time to apply for a mortgage. I've shopped around the internet and found that YBS has some really good deals.
My credit history is all good (have had personal loans, credit cards, etc. all paid off on time). The only drawback is that I'm not on the voter's register as I'm not allowed to vote. I have indefinite leave to remain though. I have phoned YBS and they confirmed that they lend to people with indefinite leave to remain.
A couple of brokers I spoke to said that YBS has particularly stringent lending criteria and it's difficult for those who are not on the voters register to get a mortgage from them. Does anyone know if this is true? Any advice is appreciated - Thanks

Can I just check that you are sure you can't be on the Electoral Roll? If you are from a commonwealth country you are allowed to register before you have British citizenship https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/33091920

Hi,
I've just had my formal mortgage offer through from YBS, joint mortgage with my otherhalf.
I am not currently on the electoral role, otherhalf is. They picked this up in our initial meeting with them and said it should be fine. I've now applied to go onto the electoral roll which should be completed in about 6 weeks time, just hadnt bothered to fill the form in the last 2 years as I'd been moving about a bit and stupidly didnt realise it could effect a mortgage proposal.
Now just waiting on local searches to come back to the solicitor and can then push for exchange :-)0
