Honeymoon in Italy - HELP!!!

Well we have decided that we are going to go to Italy for our honeymoon.
We dont want to go anywhere that is too 'touristy', the more genuine Italian we can get the better.
We would like to stay somewhere fairly remote, but not so remote that we cant get to anything. Ideally it would be a nice 'local' hotel with a swimming pool, near mountains so we can go walking and near to a village with good places to eat. Not asking for too much am I??? lol
So the point of all this, is, does anyone know where the best place to look for this kind of holiday is? Has anyone done anything like this?
TIA

Have you thought about hiring a villa instead of a hotel? It may be easier to find one in a nice area (like Tuscany) with a good pool and walks near by. I always imagine them to be in a little village or outside a town. I have no experience in this but just a thought.:T0

Thats a good idea. I always thought villas were for big groups of friends, but I suppose there must be some small ones somewhereMarried the absolute love of my life on Sunday May 6th and I couldnt be happier!!!0 -
We had a holiday in a villa in Tuscany, I think it was for about 4 or 6 people but it was just the two of us. Try simply travel/thomson, we got the car hire included as it was a bit out the way, but not in the middle of nowhere, it was a gorgeous old farmhouse with a private pool and completely enclosed in its own garden full of olive trees! I couldn't recommend Tuscany enough!0

I would definitely recommend the Tuscan / Umbrian villa option and renting a car. Alternatively there are lots of farmhouses converted into comfortable apartments with swimming pools, set in stunning scenery. Summer IMO is the best time to go, it is very hot.
Sorrento and the Bay of Naples is also very romantic, but I fear that this will be too touristy for you! And you can't beat a snog at the Trevi Fountain at dusk (sigh).Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Thank you so much for recommending this website. We have now booked our honeymoon in a small hotel in Scicily.
Its far enough away from the madding crowd, but close enough if we want to get a little mad!! lol

Also by going when we have, we have halved the price of going 2 weeks later!!!
Thanks again!Married the absolute love of my life on Sunday May 6th and I couldnt be happier!!!0
