Do student loans under the old system affect how much you can borrow for a mortgage?

The broker I saw recently said my old style student loans (taken out in 97/98/99) didn't count as debt, and didn't take any details of the amount outstanding or the repayment amount.0

I have a 20k student loan since 2002 and OH has 12k since 2002. Was not even brought up in the conversation when getting mortgage a few years back.
Hardly notice them to be honest.0 -
That was a few years back.
