Just got my sons magazine.
I subscribed to get the free gifts and so he gets it before it hits the shops. Got a free backpack today.
Issue 10 arrived this morning with a letter that said the were releasing Doctor Who Monster Invasion Extreme a new set of 180 new cards. So he won't get issue 11 for 5 weeks!
Cards out 28th Sept. A little annoyed as he's just completed the 1st set - well except for the infinite card - only 1 in every 1000 packets and going for over £50 on ebay!
Any other mums getting a little cheesed off at this?
I know my son will dance a jig about the new cards - today is his 15th birthday and he is Doctor Who mad!

Yep - I subscribed too but I dont buy any additional packs and only to get the freebies! Will be cancelling soon. Lara's arrived this morning and she has almost completed the 1st set. Wasn't aware there would ever be a second set!!
But having taken her to the Dr Who experience, she even pointed out at 9yo that they must make more money from selling the Dr Who stuff. And its tat too! I bought her a large pen/colours set thing for school at the experience. Put in her bag Tuesday morning, took the label of at that point as she hadn't used it and the zip broke by the afternoon.0 -

My son got his part 10 with a second sonic screwdriver (which break when you drop them so you have to glue them back together) having had a second Dalek battlepack too. No sign of the backpack. I phoned the number on the letter and was told he would get the bag with the relaunch issue.
He's still got 38 to get (and that elusive infinite too). He's almost seven and loves the magazine but is too scred to watch the show!
It's a bit cheeky of the mag to relaunch another set but the cards are useful 'kiddy currency' for good behaviour, rewards for swimming and tooth-loss payments.0 -
I have been collecting Dr Who cards for many years now and You get used to one set ending and another starting. Since Eccleston we have had various collection with one totalling over 1000 cards. However the Ultimate (Gold) card of this collection did seem easier to get hold of.
I also managed, on this Monster Invation Collection, to get the TESTER set of 90 cards. This was an INFINITE card, again no 90, of Tennent changing into Smith. Then when they released the full set the INFINITE and a few others changed and it got BIGGER.
SO this new set isn't really much of a shock. Infact it was bound to happen as the 1st set does not have some of the stories we ar seeing now.
My biggest gripe is not for me but for those who get these cards for there children. It has cost me around £200 to complete 2 sets (Luckily with INFINITE CARDS) which inclused opening 6 boxes. So I do have quite a few spares so if anyone needs any just ask.
I've only just joined this forum so I am not 100% sure how that would work BUT happy collecting.0 -

My grandson has hundreds of doubles, let me know by private message which ones you need and if i have them you can gladly have them as they are sitting in my grandsons cupboard at the mo gathering dust.0 -
Hi Everybody
For those of you fustrated by demands from kids. Who want to collect the new series of Monster Invasion Extreme cards. And those those who want to complete the first series.
Here is a suggestion. There is a web site you use to swap cards, from lots of different trading cards. Its free to register. You enter your swaps and needs, and it matches you with others, who have swaps and needs.
Go to - swapstick.com
Try it out, see how you get on.

It may be worth also looking here:
www(dot)trade.mahasamatman.com/WhoMI/list_index
People wishing to swap have their cards are listed by "Wants" and "Haves" (and also by users), so to make it easy to sort through, and also display a reputation score, so you know if your doing a big "swap", they are trustworthy, I myself have used it to arrange many swaps/trades from many different countries (and here in the UK).0 -
Well been collecting this set since is started, got so many swaps its rediculous. My grandson is an avid fan of Doctor Who and I am so cheesed off to say the least about Infinate Card 90 that is selling for up to £150.00 on ebay. I remember that at one time you could collect card set collections and complete the set. The money that Doctor Who merchandise is making is disgusting and leaving the fans with incomplete card sets. You should be able to buy this seperately from doctorwhomi at a reasonable price. I will not be collecting Series 2 or any of the Doctor Who magazines in the future.0

Hi, Ive just joined this forum so bear with me lol! Ive been collecting the first set and now moved onto the second set of 'extreme' cards. I have hundreds of duplicates of the first set if anyone needs them drop me a private message and I will get them sent out to you as they are of no use to me now. We were very fortunate with the Infinate card from the first batch- I bought a sealed box from eBay for about £24 and it was in there LOL!! We are looking for someone to swap the new set of Extreme cards so if you are honest and reliable I would like to hear from you. It costs a fortune trying to complete these sets for our little darlings and eBay no longer allows swapping. I signed up to that swapstix but I find the site too difficult to use so I have given up!! All the best, Siobhan x x0
