I wouldn't want my partner to buy me anything on credit, but only you know your financial situation OP so if you and your partner are happy with it then that's all that matters
For all we know you're a millionaire and just want to buy on credit so you can earn interest on your money for longer 
Personally I'd rather my OH told me a budget that he could comfortably afford and then I could choose what I like up to that amount, and would have the choice to spend more by paying some towards it myself if I liked something more expensive. I'm starting to feel a bit sorry for men having to pay all that money by themselves when they don't get a present back! I think I'd feel obliged to offer to go halves :rotfl:0 -
