    I am afraid that I have to agree with all the other posters here. The employer is not being unreasonable in expecting to go ahead - they did agree to a deferral to obtain union representation, but the fact that her rep has gone on holiday is, as I said previously, not their problem. The union rep should have arranged for someone else to accompany her. Entitlement is to union representation - not representation by the rep of your choice. If the hearing has gone ahead in her absence, then the employer can quite reasonably lay this at her door / the unions door. They deferred, were unable to obtain a definite date from her / the union within the timescales laid out and she chose not to attend.

    Casual, I know you are trying to help, but the simple truth is - she has stuffed this one up.

    If it did go ahead, she may have been dismissed or warned. Start looking at the appeals process.

    If it didn't you should be knee deep in the bundle of evidence by now.

    She should really call to find out where your energies are best spent.

    And, she should be posting here herself for the best advice!
