Wife got home and realised a few items had been scanned twice somehow.....
Fairly expensive items too, like air freshners and clothes items adding up to about 15 quid.
Anything we can do about it? I'm doubtful that going to the store is going to be very productive because of course we cant prove we never had these items.

If you go to the Customer Service Desk in store with your receipt they will refund you. Maybe even phone the store first - people don't generally lie about that sort of thing!
Not sure what the policy is nowadays but you used to get a £2 gift card as a gesture of goodwill too, for the inconvenience.0 -
happened to us on a saturday night
we rang straight up
ours was simpler though because 3 bought 3 bottles of wine for £10 but had 4 bottles on the invoice and two were the same bar code too
we got an apology and our money back but nothing for the time inconveniance or petrol
somehow this receipt wasnt checked in their car park i think because the wife paid and i forgot, but its something i always normally do just to confirm i have my offers ive bought showing at the till receipt bottom0 -
just go back & get a refund.
got ONE pack of jammie dodgers from Tesco the other week, she'd scanned 4! went back at the weekend & had no problem getting the money back0 -
I'd agree, go back. If they question it you can remind them they have CCTV, the date and time and can look back if they want to.0

I always check my receipt before I leave the store on those few occasions I get a cashier to do the scanning. I normally go on s/s or the scan n go (the handset thing) at the larger Sainsburys.
Since Sainsburys have got rid of the quantity function for cashiers to use (supervisors can do it for the cashiers), when I have bought a case of wine, I always get more bottles scanned than I have bought. I bought 12 bottles and was charged for 15! I got my money back. Cashiers get bored scanning the same item so many times. The quantity function was removed due to some cashiers at other stores scanning an item x times when the customer bought different flavours - to help inventory levels. Infact, it has made things worse.0 -
I would check items with the receipt before leaving the till, if they dont like it toughHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

I always quickly check the receipt for obvious (ie expensive), errors before leaving the store. If not noticed, lesser errors are challenged on my next visit."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0

Yeh, should have checked receipt at the time.
Surprised they give a refund though. I thought they'd say tough should have checked. After all, anyone can go back and say they bought 1 of this item not 2 regardless of whether its the truth or not....0
