Hiya, not sure what price range you're after.... but I've always wanted to go here!

Considering that a Travelodge would be about £80-£90, this one isnt overly pricey. Also, you can get it a bit cheaper if you book through lastminute.com
laterooms.com is a crackin' site for finding some last-minute bargains aswell!0 -
If you have the money, I would go to a 5 star if at all possible...
It sounds ridiculous and wasteful, but my GF and I stayed at Marriott Park Lane on Saturday night, it was £220 for the night including breakfast, but was absolutely amazing - second to none service, the room was huge and had all the extras - absolutely worth doing - even if you go away for one night instead of two in a 3 or 4 star, it's worth the cost.
Added benefit of staying on Park lane of course is that it's right on the end of Oxford Street, looks out onto Hyde park, and down the other end of the road is Knightsbridge and Buckingham palace, all within easy walking distance! (Means you'll save a tenner in tube fares!!)

One of the best things I've ever done for hotels in London is to go onto https://www.lastminute.com and look at the hotels page. If you do a search they have loads that come up and try to go for one of their 'top secret hotels' - these are very well known and usually quite plush ones at much discounted rates - you don't find out which hotel it is until you receive your booking confirmation.
An example of how good they are is that for a (very!) special treat I booked a standard double room in the Radisson Edwardian Vanderbilt, Kensington as the named hotel for a weekend in March a couple of years ago at a cost of around £150 including breakfast for the two of us. About six months later we were going to London to see friends and needed a hotel so I went onto lastminute and booked a top secret hotel in Kensington at a cost of £95 for a suite with a super king size bed and separate seating area including breakfast. The hotel was - you've guessed it, the same as we'd stayed in before!!!!

What about a basic hotel instead, then the money you 'saved' you could let her spend on clothes/shoes etc???!!! Reason I say this is because I've just booked a 'Travelodge' through their 'supersaver' deal for only £15!!! We too were looking at a 'nice' hotel, but decided against it - more to spend whilst we're there. OH got me theatre tickets for Xmas for Valentines nights (killed2 birds with 1 stone you think..??!!) Appreciate it won't be luxurious, but oh well!
I am in the future you know...
...9 hours ahead to be exact !:D0 -
we are looking for a cheap but luxurious hotel for our wedding night as we aren't going on a honeymoon, and dont have much money, but we want to stay in luxury, any ideas?0

Don't listen to the cheapo's - i took my gf to the Hilton Waldorf for our anniversary; we both thought it was amazing. Admittedly it was free on Hilton hhonors points, but it was still great! Walking distance to Covent Garden is a great bonus. Avoid the Hilton Green Park - it's very disappointing.
Another expensive one is the Mandarin Oriental (nr Hyde Park). I went to a wedding there in the summer, it's very exquisite.0 -
