Statement of Affairs

Hello all,

I'm new to Money Saving Expert but found the site whilst trying to save money, as I'm in debt. However, this site has opened my eyes. I now realise the only way forward is not only to save money but to get rid of my debts, ASAP.

Not really sure where to start.

What is a statement of affairs?

Any help and advice would be appriciated.

Thanks,

Katrina

  • Hi Katrina, welcome to the site!

A full statement of affairs shows all your incomings and outgoings on a monthly basis as well as all your outstanding debt commitments including balance owing and APR's. Best place to start is southernscousers sticky at the top of the page which will give you an idea of how to structure it and what to include.

Hope this helps, there is some wonderful support and advice to be had from the peeps on this board!!

  • I'm wondering if it's necessary for a board moderator to change the title of SS's sticky post to "SOA: STATEMENT OF AFFAIRS - Information for first time posters", or something similar, and perhaps even provide a permanent link in the box above with the other links? The thread does seem to get lost amongst all the other threads, even though it's sticky, which is probably because it never receives any new posts and is never in bold.

With "What's an SOA?" appearing to be a common question for first time posters on the board, even for those who've lurked for sometime and decided to sign up, it might be worth giving that particular thread greater prominence. Considering it's the starting point for many people in calculating, realising and combating their spending habits on the DFW board, and a clearly structured template for others to assist, it would probably be worth doing. :)
