Fixing plastic curtain rails to double glazing frames

I've had the front door and adjoining window changed to double glazed ones, and the difference last winter was amazing. However I can't fix curtain rails to the window surround (metal over-window joist), so they'd have to be put on the frames themselves. How should I do this so it won't compromise the frames and will be strong enough to support the weight of lined winter curtains?
TIA

I wouldn't fix them to the frames, I would fix a wooden batten to the wall above the window and door and fix the rail to that.
Edit: sorry I've just re-read your post and saw you said you couldn't fix them above.Dum Spiro Spero0 -
I agree with anguk, don't put them on the frame.
You'd need to put them above the steel joists. Or maybe an extendible shower rail wall to wall or inside the window recess?0 -
Can you fix them either side of the window or door instead of to the plastic? if not I think you can get special fixings to do this, but I wouldn't want to personally as it would compromise the integrity of the double glazing I'd think.0
