What sort of acoustic? Is it intended to take steel or nylon strings?Stompa0

So does it look more like the "steel string guitar" or the "nylon string guitar":

Do you know what make it is? (Often written on the headstock, or on a label inside the soundhole).
If it currently has nylon strings, then I guess it's probably the latter (unless somebody has put the wrong type of strings on it).Stompa0 -
Has it got a wide fret board at all? If it has then most likely you will require nylon strings.0

Go to a Guitar shop. If you put the wrong ones on you can cause damage.
Guitar shop will sort you out in mins and should even string it up for you if you want. This would be a good idea as sometimes they will even do a bit of setting up for you for free if your in luck.0 -
Oafc makes a good point, take it into a shop and they may string and tune it up for you for little or nothing.£8/£96 for ToughMudder fee.0

you can also check on google typing your guitar made or code number and see what comes up. You can easily distinguish between nylon string or steel seeing the picture i guess. Obiviously, nylon string gives better sound however keeping the right string is important.
So i would say another option is to check on internet. Hope this is helpful!!0
