2 part time jobs and maternity?

Hi
I have a part time job and have been thinking about getting a second one.
If I was to get a second part time job and was to get pregnant in the first year, does anyone know how it would affect maternity pay? Which employer would pay it, or would it be shared by both?
I would qualify for SMP from my current job, but would a (hypothetical) second job change anything?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi hon
If you earn enough from your 2nd job to pay national insurance, £102 a week minimum, then you will qualify for SMP for it also. It is possible to receive SMP from both jobs, so in theory you can end up better off than if you had just the one job. Have a look at this link, at the bottom theres a section on having more than one employer:
http://www.dwp.gov.uk/publications/specialist-guides/technical-guidance/ni17a-a-guide-to-maternity/statutory-maternity-pay-smp/how-to-get-smp/
Another thing to beaware of is that you can return to one of the jobs whilst still claiming from SMP from the other, as you would have been employed there before becoming pregnant.
I hope this helps, and best wishes with the job hunt and of course trying for the baby xxx0 -
