Hi there, you should feel really proud of yourself for having made this big step forward.

Not everyone will be as easy as the woman from M&S though so be prepared for phone calls from people in call centres who do not seem to get the meaning of the phrase "I am on a DMP with CCCS and they will be dealing with you from now on"!!! (certainly that is the impression I get from others on DMPs on this board, although I am not in one myself so stand to be corrected of course).

So, the key is to stay strong, and when things seem like they are getting on top of you, which they may do from time to time, remember how much more in control you now are of your financial life, than you were just a few short weeks ago.

I have just read what I have typed and it seems fairly negative, but that is not the way I intended it. I know how hard it is with a large amount of debt (see my signature) so just want you to know that you are now on the road to financial recovery so to speak, and the lessons that we learn on the way are invaluable. That is such a fantastic step to have taken.

Keep posting and good luck with everything. Be proud and stay strong x

Contents Insurance - £24.18 think I can get this cheaper. Current one's up in May, so that needs sorting around March/April time.
You don't have to wait until your current policy is expired to switch...

I've just changed my policy via Quidco, it wasn't due to expire until May either but I've changed to the Pru, exactly the same cost but I got £75 cashback.

This is not a criticism but Im amazed that CCCS will allow £165 for smoking.
    Good luck with the switching.

I was surprised at that too, but it's gone through them and I'm sure that they would have said something if they didn't think it would be acceptable. I do realise, though, that they can only advise me of what might be acceptable to the creditors. I guess that the creditors may still take a different view, and at that point I might have to have a re-think.

I'd love to give up, but at the moment I don't think I could (I'm worrying that this has all been too easy, and I'm kind of preparing for a bumpy couple of months). I know that smoking really doesn't ease stress, but my brain doesn't seem to 'compute' that properly!

    Thanks Cazzdevil.

I've had a look at the Pru (and Barclays) via Quidco. Neither will let me enter my proper renewal date (end of May), but I know now that the deals are there and that I'm going to be able to make a saving of about £8 per month.
