Not leaving yet, but may be (YAY!) Job interview next week!

[SOLVED BY GOOGLE! lol] Anyone from Sainsbury's know how much notice I'd need to give? Been there since March 2009.

Who do I give it to? My manager or HR?

Good luck with the job interview!

As for the amount of notice you have to give, your contract should provide you with the information you need.

  • You need to refer to your contract and if you don't have this, check the Sainsburys policy on notice periods.

    Been googling it's 4 weeks.
  • yes unless specified in your contract it will be your period of pay.

if you are paid monthly; then its a month.
if you are paid weekly; then its a week.

it will be in the 'termination section' of the contract.
    :)
  • When you resign, pop that down on paper, ie. as per my notice period, I am giving four weeks notice therefore my last day will be X' and then if there were any issues, they could let you know.

    What makes you think that?

Unless specified in the written particulars of employment ("contract" in your words), the employee with more than a month's service would need to give notice of just one week, irrespective of whether they were paid weekly, monthly or at any other time interval.

Resignation letter to HR with a copy to your manager is usual in any job.
