Hi all,

We have a A&L Mortgage since 2009, applied to port mortgage to new house, went through application process and told pack would be sent out for us to sign etc we then need to prove income by way of wage slips x 3 months and my 2yrs self employed accounts.

Told could take 3 weeks until offer, I had to call them a few hours later as the agents for vendor will not accept offer until they have sight of an AIP. A&L told me they don't issue these and to send them the Keyfacts illustration! Agents refused this as its not even evidence we may be approved. In my frustration I have decided that I will pay their ERC of £2500 plus fee of £250 and use a broker to obtain an alternative product just to secure the offer on our new house.

has anyone else experienced this?

BTW I get so confused as they say A&L but paperwork is sometimes santander! and A&L only work 9-5!

Santander bought the Alliance & Leicester some years ago. Currently in the process of running the mortgage book down.

"and A&L only work 9-5!" - see my comment above. No new business to handle so staff will be gradually taken out of the A&L operation.

Your application would have been referred to an underwriter. As lending criteria has changed somewhat since you originally took out the mortgage.
