  • ...it still doesnt show you a correct available balance including switch transactions etc...

I can't quite grasp how the balance and transactions are shown online on my Tesco credit card, perhaps I'm being a bit thick.

Hopefully you will not have to budget quite to the last penny each month after you are rid of debt and mortgage repayments.

How long is the tenancy on the new place?

If it's 12 months, and you get a move on with the bankruptcy, you could be discharged by renewal time.

  • Any money spent on debts, mortgage, and the old house from now on is really money wasted.

Council Tax can be a sticky one in bankruptcy, so best to keep that up to date.

Assuming you are not in arrears, treat the utilities as normal, so get a reading when you move, and pay the final bill.

    Same applies to the phone.

This should also mean you can move seamlessly into the new place, although the gas and electric might want to put you on a prepay tariff, if they hear of your bankruptcy.

Keep up the contents insurance while you still have contents in the old house worth insuring.

Buildings insurance is now irrelevant - if the house falls down tomorrow, you will have very little involvement in rebuilding it.

It's probably not worth asking for a refund of the premium, unless you only renewed it last week.

You are now set on the bankruptcy course, so the sooner you do that, the better.

I appreciate you have two lots of fees to save for, but getting that money together should be a priority.

Plenty of people stick a few hundred on the credit card to get themselves over the line.

  • I'd keep paying 'normal' amounts to utilities to keep them on side, just try and avoid the arrears if you can.

Cutting right back as NA has suggested will hopefully give you some room to save a bit quicker for BR, although I realise once you move how much you can save will reduce. Get as much put by as you can before you move.

You've come a very long way already Maizy, pat on the back for taking action and finding that rental. Not far to go now.:)
