  • Belle Isle - Co. Fermanagh. I've heard it's lovely, however, not suitable for a huge wedding. Check it out at the web address below:

Someone I know got married under a fairy thorn tree on her father's land. Unusual and special to them. national trust will usually - for a fee allow a marquee to be erected in the grounds of their properties for a reception. Most properties could have a suitable room to get married in.
Or what about seeing if Crom castle (the private one - i think it is owned by lord enniskillen) will sort you out? I noticed that they have started letting out a wing of the castle - though not cheap.

Maybe you are going about it wrong??? What about sitting down with your other half to see what is very special and personal to yourselves - worlds your oyster :)

    Regards

Mill in Downpatrick, may not be in your travel range. We were at an evening do in it last year and it is a different type of venue.

Would second this place. . .

Attended a wedding there last year and it was fantastic, great service and accomadation.

    Very different. :)

  • How about the Watermill Restaurant outside lisanaskea - http://www.kilmorequayclub.com/

I don't know if they do civil ceremonies, but the main building looks quite cute. I've heard the food is fantastic and I know the setting is absolutely beautiful. They've recently put up a marquee, and there are loads of self-catering cottages on site.
  • Momstheword forgot Share did weddings now, def a different venue! Has a big room that is more than big enough for an evening do and on site caterers.
  • I saw a leaflet in a shop this morning advertising a Quirky Wedding Fair in the Crescent Arts Centre on Sunday 9th October and thought of you OP. The website is www.quirkyweddings.co.uk.

Thanks a lot everyone, keep 'em coming!!! :)

We have already looked at Belle Isle (amazing but too small capacity-wise). Crom Castle and Castle Leslie look fabby doo but expensive lol. Belfast Castle is too far away but also lovely. :) Will defo check out all the rest, thanks a million xxx

I'm away the weekend of the quirky wedding fair, shame!!!! :(

Just to say also - we are getting married in a church - don;t want to say where but near the Fermanagh/Monaghan/Cavan border, so the reception venue needs to be not *too* far away from that. :) About an hour at the most!

  • I've also just thought of the Olde Poste Inn in Cloverhill, just across the border in Cavan - http://www.theoldepostinn.com/small-wedding-venue.php
The food is absolutely fantastic and the staff are really helpful. I have no idea about the cost of a reception there, but I can imagine it's a bit on the higher end of the scale.

There's also Knockninny House in the Derrylin area, right on the Lough. http://www.knockninnyhouse.com/

I'm originally from that neck of the woods and would be really interested in knowing where you end up choosing.
