So fed up

My boiler is broken - or something very wrong with it and there is no way I can call a plumber out - in case it costs me too much. So for now I have heating but next to no hot water at all. I could cry its so frustrating. I dont know what to do now.

    Hi,

Whoever said "it never rains but it pours" really hit the nail on the head!!!

Funny enough, our boiler stopped heating the hot water about 13 years ago - we get central heating but have to use the electric thermostat to heat our household stuff.

Over the years it must have (and still is) cost us a fortune in wasted electric, but just never seemed to have the money to pay someone to take a look at it !!!!! (plumbers do cost dont they)

I think the problem all stems from blocked pipe stuff - so poss thats whats going wrong your end.

Maybe someone here has some plumbing advice they can offer?

Careful what you do though, dangerous things to mess around with if you dont know what your doing.

Sorry, this post is'nt that helpful is it?

All the best anyway - who needs hot water!

  • For only £65p/a you can get your plumbing and drainage covered by the company I work for. I work purely as a data analyst, no sales commision coming my way :rotfl:

They do boiler cover and all sorts of household insurance, they are basically the "AA of the home".

It can never happen to me - that's what most people say, so get yourself covered and avoid phoning around and begging potential and dodgy cowboys coming round (when they feel like doing so!).

No financial advice i'm afraid but

does your system have a hot water cylinder? if so and there is no hot water but the central heating is OK, then its most probably a faulty value.
if you/OH have any practical skills or just want to have a check i may be able to tell you how to find out. (no guarentees and my knowledge is that of that of an amateur.)
