childs petticoat?

I am sorry I suspect this isn't the correct forum but couldn't work out which other one to go for...

has anyone come accross a child petticoat? age 6...

I've been trying to find one.

today I went into next and asked where there camisoles were? the girls said she didn't understand. At the weekend I went into M&S and asked for a petticoat and the girl? / woman didn't know what I was on about. Sure I can't be that old (38? !)

They just don't seem to do them any more,I think they are good for little ones in the winter..

nope - I cannot remember the last time I saw a petticoat on the high street! been looking for one for myself. and it seems that kids are lucky to have Vests after age 5!
I know I am knocking on a bit - but I wasnt allowed to discard my Liberty (what a misnomer) bodice until May - and it was back on in September! but vests and petticoats were worn all year round - No wonder we thought summers were warmer back in the Olden Days!

    Hi u751904,

The last time I bought a child's peticoat was fifteen years ago from mothercare. I'm afraid that I have no idea if they still do them.

As you're thread has dropped down the Old style board I've moved it over to the I wanna buy-it or do-it board to see if you can get more replies.

  • I just had a quick search on ebay, they have about 10 different one's listed for age 6. You should try have a look and see if there's any suitable. Hope this helps :)
  • We needed one for my daughter a couple of months ago and after searching the high street from everywhere like Mothercare, John Lewis, M&S, BHS, etc I finally bought one online from the children's salon. My daughter has just turned 5 and I bought the age 5 - 6 and it fit her perfectly. I think the brand is couche tot or something like that. I've just searched on ebay and if you search girls petticoat or girls underskirt it will bring up a very similar section. The top half was like a plain white vest with a layered skirt, someone is selling a couche tot one on ebay if you want to see the type we got but it is age 6 -7

  • I've just re-read your original post, the couche tot one will be a bit full for what you're looking for. Sorry my last post was a bit rubbish. I've not seen traditional petticoats for a long time, probably not since I wore one as a child (I'm the same age as you)
