The latest "ooooh" word ....

... picking up the kids from footie club after school, I could hear the women a couple of feet away, chatting. (I wasn't eavesdropping, I was obviously just down wind, or they were not whispering!)

Well, I had a little chuckle to myself when I heard the following:-
"... and as a treat, I gave them - LASAGNA! Homemade!!!" *insert big beaming smile of pride*

"Homemade? Wow, you really *are* clever, is it difficult? I always get mine from Asda."
That got me thinking, it must be a sign of the age we live in because I don't think I ever heard my mother, or our female neighbours, when they were discussing food needing to add - homemade - it went without saying, back then!

So, do remember people, if you wish to impress ... use the latest Buzzword = Home Made. You're going shoot up in others estimation ;)

Hardly anyone makes their own yorkies any more...Aunt Bessies are grim!

Must admit though, I've never made a lasagne :o

  • This is a recipe that i cut out from the paper ages ago and it works for me - make batter with 4oz plain flour, one egg, 1/2 pint full-fat milk, 2tbsp water and a few drops of sunflower oil. I put a generous amount of oil in the cake tray and let it heat in the oven. It's funny 'cos i use the same recipe at my mum's and her tray's fancier than mine and yet they always stick....

Aaaahhhh now then.... there was a thread on perfect yorkie puds somewhere on here.......but what with all the HOMEMAKING....I'm too tired to find it

    5oz plain flour
    2 large eggs
    pinch of salt
    6fl oz milk
    2fl oz water

Mix flour eggs and salt really well, add milk and water bit by bit and whisk like billy-o

put mixture in the fridge for half an hour

pour into 'smokin' fat in tin

oven on 200 deg for 'bout 35 mins

    y-u-m!
