Delux Back gammon set at Lidl

Lidl does it again! A 21 inch pro board for £10 quid! these sell for around £70 pounds in stores and on e bay... just bought 2 one black and one brown the brown is the nicer looking of the set though, grab it while you can! Its a great way to start an argument with your parntner after thrashing them 16 nil!
What do you mean lucky dice?????:D

Bought one of these a couple of weeks ago - it really is a very nice set and outrageously priced at only £10! There are instructions inside.

I'd been on the lookout for a cheap wooden one for ages - I love backgammon :D
I picked up one in ALDI a couple of weeks ago for £5 - it's wooden & unvarnished.
Bit rustic, but it was an absolute bargain; as the OP said wooden ones are pretty pricey usually.

  • Only available at selected stores it seems, not showing on the 'specials' on the website showing my local store. Shame!

If anyone , like me, wants to play backgammon but does not have a readily available partner, there is a really good computer version to download from here http://jelly.effect.no/. It's got various skill levels, a customiseable board, doubling cube etc... and its free!
I've been using this programme for a number of years now and I'm totally addicted.
I know there is an online version with WinXP but personally I find that frustratingly slow plus the fact that your opponent leaves the game if they're losing.
    Try Jellyfish its good!;)

I like the sound of the board from Lidl, but another site for getting an excellent free program is http://www.gnubg.org/ or if you want to play online for free at a friendly turn based site try http://www.dailygammon.com/
