  • Hi Jaide

Can you give us a few more details so we can help a bit more? :)

For instance, do you have a colour theme in mind? Where is the wedding happening (Church, Registry Office, Hotel etc)? How many people will be invited?

Do you mind/have the time/inclination to DIY a lot of it?

Vistaprint is a cheap and good quality place to go for invites and other stationery items.

eBay is brilliant for cheap items and ideas too! Type in wedding and have a look at all the amazing things that come up!

And I love the Wedding Ideas magazine too!

AND, of course, this forum :) there's always someone who can help :)

  • hi , the colour sceme is cadbury purple, and the wedding is regustry office then to a meal at golf centre, want to make most the things my self eg. ballon weights and table decoration, and maybe button holes, need help on were to get helium from aswell thank u in advamce will be looking on the links you gave me after my son in bed x
  • You can buy helium quite cheaply on ebay.

Also, as you are having Cadbury purple as the colour scheme, why not have the purple Roses sweets as favours? You could have either the big ones, or to save costs, the smaller ones - I've always thought these would be great cheap favours.

Look on ebay for rolls of organza to use as decoration, we got 25m roll for £7, and you could put tealights in jars tied in organza as table decorations.

Silk flowers are cheaper on the whole than real ones and can be arranged in advance, including buttonholes, leaving less stress on the day, and Dunelm have good ones, as well as there being loads on ebay.

There are lots of suit hire companies on the net, and we quite like http://www.formallyyours.co.uk/, though if you are having 5 suits or more the groom goes free at Moss Bros which makes it really good value.

We are having the bridesmaids dresses made in birmingham for about £40 each and she is making ties and handkerchiefs for the groomsmen to match the bridesmaids. She is on ebay as huiyunkitty and does mail order but we are going via her shop in Stratford Road in Birmingham. She is a bit slow to deliver so you might need to get that sorted if you use her. Another good dress site is http://www.sexyher.co.uk/, which have some great styles and are quite cheap.

Also the British Heart Foundation sells a lot of weddingy things at reasonable prices and some of them are really good ideas for table decorations etc. If you are using your own cars they sell the stuff to decorate them too - see http://giftshop.bhf.org.uk/wedding.html

Good luck hope it all goes well

i can second the organza rolls off ebay for around £7. We had them over plain white tablecloths as runners and it looked lovely. We also used it to make swags at the top table along with a few hidden safety pins. I got some artificial garland petals on the thinnest metal wire to arrange on the table with some bird candle holders (made sure no one actually lit one) If your lucky the venue should have nice neutral/white tables you could easy dress up. Then we had just a few some streamers criss-crossed along some beams. Look up honeycomb ceiling decorations they look effective and are on the cheap side.
