Hi all, we are getting married on 14th April 2012 and I have finally sorted the venue for the reception, church is booked and we've decided on the food we want. I have my dress, which I want to have changed into a lace up back as it is a zip up at the mo. Thing is I'm not sure when to start looking at suit hire and stuff like that, the list of things to do is as follows could people give me an idea how long before the wedding I should be doing these things?
Suit hire
Dress alterations
Send invites
Buy bridal underwear
Book honeymoon (a weekend somewhere in Uk)
Start sorting out hen night

personally i would book the honeymoon as soon as possible
the suit hire i would start looking at now - have you thought of buying as it may be cheaper and then you could possibly resell to get some of the money back- and maybe then book within the next couple of months - negotiate for a discount because you are booking in advance
i would send invites in january (unless the wedding is in the school holidays in which case i would do it in november)
i would look at bridal underwear now - are you looking to lose weight between now and then and what sort of underwear do you want - something corseted you might want to get used to
and the hen night depends on what you want to do if you are going away then i would start planning now, if its a day at your place then you can leave that until after xmas
i would ask a sewing person about the dress - is this the only alteration or are there others to do?The only people I have to answer to are my beautiful babies aged 8 and 50 -
We got married on 30th April and my timings were broadly as follows:
Suit hire - booked in November, fittings the week before the wedding
Dress alterations - dress arrived in shop Dec, had first fitting early Dec then second fitting March.
Send invites - day invites were sent late November, evening invites were sent in early February.
Buy bridal underwear - whenever you like really as you can get this at quite short notice these days!
Book honeymoon (a weekend somewhere in Uk) - we booked ours in October but look as soon as you can, as if you want a particular cottage you need to ensure it's available exactly when you want it!
Start sorting out hen night - my sisters did this for me but I think they "saved the date" with the girls I wanted there around 5 months in advance, and then worked out the details a month or two before.
Hope that helps

We're getting married on the same day! Congratulations
I have this worry too, I have 2 other friends getting married in June next year and they seem to have so much more done that me.
So far have the church and reception booked, bar sorted, my dress and the bridesmaids, my sister in law is doing the invitations so that they are ready to send out with the Christmas cards.
Started having a look for suits but other half can not decide what style he wants.
Still have to book caterer but we are just having an evening buffet so not feeling too stressed about that yet.
Flowers wise my maid of honours other half runs a florist, but I just want simple white tulips anyway for me and the girls so should be in season.
Pretty much know what is happening on hen do and will be confirming numbers towards the end of this month.
I still need to get my dress altered however have put a weight on since I have bought it so need to stop eating all the rubbish and get back to bootcamp.
Have you got your rings sorted yet?0 -
Hi Sam. I'm a bit rubbish with the whole timings thing, so i'll leave that to the others! I was also thinking of getting the back of my dress changed from zip to lace up - just wondering how much that cost you and how you found someone to do it?
