Hello!
Have you asked your HV about free babygates? we got two from ours but they had low stock due to funding cuts. through surestart I think.
we bought a few things when baby events were on at Morrisons/Asda - got locks for cupboards and socket proctectors and those plastic things to go on the corners of shelves/tables.
However on saying that I only really use the gates, he pulled off the corner protectors and the socket covers seemed very inviting too so we took them off and he doesn't seem to bother now . He is very interested by the toilet though, not sure if I should of got a toilet seat lock, Im convinced I wouldn't be able to open it though
I need to start saving so I plan to save £2 a week to start with:beer:0 -
I have not bothered with much to be honest. My son was walking at 10 months (now just turned 1). I have foam corners and edging on a low glass table (from kiddicare) and a stairgate at the bottom of the stairs. I've put a lock on the cupboard under the sink (holds chemicals) but anything else is fair game. Haven't bothered with socket covers, fridge locks or things to hold the loo seat down. I have a travel cot in the lounge that I can put him into if I need to go to the loo or answer the door etc.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.

I saw this kit on kiddiecare and thought it looked good value:
http://www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplayA_254_10751_-1_14758_1669_10001_
it seems to have everything I can think of - not sure if there is anything else I need.
The only thing that is putting me off is the baby on board sticker which I hate so much as a matter of principle - but that is slightly off topic!
Thanks Brunette Girl - will speak to HV and see if the stair gates are a possibility - this is new to me.
Cheers,

It's crap. Someone bought it for me (I sent it back). The foam corners and edging are much much better.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.

We didn't bother baby proofing the house... other than moving DVDs onto a higher shelf after we found a few boxes with teeth marks! We did have a fridge lock but dd broke it.
A stair gate would be useful if you don't have a door before your staircase.
The plug sockets are supposed to be dangerous .. someone posted a link in another thread a few weeks ago.0 -
Well thanks everyone, I have a tendency to be a bit of a victim when it comes to purchasing baby related items...nothing like a mummy on maternity leave with too much time spent researching things during baby's nap time!
Foam corners it is and a few cupboard locks.
Think I may get the toilet seat lock also as the hubby looked horrified and started quoting infant deaths when I suggested we didn't need one. Sometimes it's easier to just agree!
I have tried searching for the plug socket cover danger but cant find the link...anyone able to help?
Cheers,
