As the mileage has went up to 45p a mile for this tax year, does that mean I can reclaim the extra 5p for any previous mileage claims I have previously submitted since 1st April? or can i only claim when the company I am claiming of is notified of this increase?

That's entirely up to the company that your work for. No company is legally obliged to pay a particular mileage rate; HMRC merely set a maximum rate that can be paid without incurring a tax liability.0 -
If you are self employed or work for your own company then yes. The 45p per mile only applies to the first 10,000 miles though after which it's 25p per mile.0
