Hi
Hope someone can give me a bit of advice. I have been paying into my NHS pension since I was 18 (now 46!) so that's 27 years:eek:. I know that I can't pay in more than 40 years (so just 13 to go!). What I was wondering is can I retire when I'm 58 and claim my NHS pension which would be 40yrs paid service or do I have to work until I'm 65:mad:
Thanks in advance.
Debbie

As far as I'm aware you can pay in for 45 years. What I was wondering is can I retire when I'm 58 and claim my NHS pension which would be 40yrs paid service or do I have to work until I'm 65
Assuming you are in the 1995 section your normal retirement age is 60. If you are a member of the special classes you can retire at age 55.
Why not take a read at the scheme booklet.
