Compatible Inks???

Options
Do compatibles really work as well as the original inks? I have just bought a Canon Pixma 4300 & would be interested in purchasing compatables in future. I would however need them more for printing photos than for documents, so they would have to be good quality. Has anyone tried 7 Day Shop's compatable inks?

Thanks

I also do alot of photos! Until recently I would only buy originals after a horrible and messy experience with some cheap nasty compatibles but then I saw a friends pic print out using compats from https://www.eco-office-supplies.co.uk so I use them now and they are fantastic - it means I can print nearly 5 times more for my money. At that price it's worth giving them a go. Hope that helps. Do you print photos that you have taken yourself?
  • I've never had a problem with compatible cartridges and have found them to be as good as the originals, and I've used them for over 5 years in lots of Epson printers. The latest being CX3200 and RX620 which are multifunction printers and R300 which is a photo printer, and the photos come out fine.

They're very good from https://www.houseofink.co.uk and the prices are great.

The FREE offer at https://www.freeinkcarts.co.uk is very good and hopefully you'll have a printer on their list (most Canon, Epson and HP) - but you need to register with them by 14 Feb.

You can refer friends to get you more points and higher up their list. I don't get anything from the links above... as you can only refer people if you have their email already, so they do have to be friends.

I think you'll find with all the compatibles for the canon that you have to take the chip off the original chip and put it onto the compatible. I bought two sets of colour cartridges (inkrite), and changing the chips over is a bit of a hassle - the first two I did I ended up with ink all over my hands - don't hold the cartridge on its side or upside down while putting the chip in. Also, the printer will no longer report ink status (as it thinks the cartridge is already empty) so if you want to check ink levels you'll have to remove the cartridge.

It's all too much bother for me, and I'm going to go back to original cartridges for normal printing, and get a continous ink system for when I am doing high volume printing.

If don't mind changing the chips over, the quality of the prints was the same as the canon cartridges, and the inkrite ones cost around £3.48 comapare to £7.10 for originals.

I have never had problems with compatible ink cartridges and when you look at the saving its well worth trying them

    I use

I have used them for a few years and no problems
  • I too was concerned about aftermarket ink quality and expense. I print 30 to 50 13 X 16 photographs per week. After some research and discussion with the folks at inksupply.com I opted for a continuous inker and their Epson identical dye-based inks for my wide format Epson 1280 printer. I use the same rig on an Epson 785exp. I can tell no difference in side-by-side comparisons as to color fidelity and 3 year old prints don't exhibit fading or color shift. They are in a bright room although not in direct sunlight. They put the same ink in their dybase aftermarket carts.

If you visit https://www.jettec.co.uk you will be able to check the compatibility of your printer and what cartridges you need - although they do not sell directly to general members of the public you can visit https://www.ink4business.co.uk this is where you can buy them from without going to a reseller.
