I need to tell you all!!

Hello All,

Today has been the MOST epic day ever :j

Although not officially engaged we purchased, well my OH purchased, my engagement ring today after MONTHS of looking. [I won't describe it until it's official!]

We discussed wanting to get married in 2013, my OH decided we should look for a ring together before he proposes. Thus we did!

Now, I'm waiting for the official proposal - SOOO excited! Obviously, i'm not sure when this will be as I think our respective families aren't aware at present. But it's still SOOOOOOOO exciting!

Final question - how long will I have to wait?!

How exciting! this is what we did. My OH only made me wait 24 hours, but it was torture. I was soooo excited, but couldn't tell anyone! Hopefully your OH won't make you wait too long!

Aww hopefully you wont have long to wait, I know someone who waited 2 years after her OH bought the ring! I was saved the waiting because my OH picked the ring etc.

My OH took me in to get my finger measured for the ring in the April, he didn't propose until Christmas day. Although I was disappointed when he didn't propose on holiday or on my birthday etc ... It made it a fantastic surprise and I wasn't expecting it at all.

Firstly a massive congratulations!! I bet you are grinning from ear to ear. How on earth are you going to be able to not shout it from the rooftops!!

But this is the bit I really don't understand about weddings. I get the "we haven't talked about it and I'm going to surprise her, fingers crossed she says yes" proposal.

But I don't get the "we've already agreed to marry but I'm going to 'surprise' her" proposal. In my opinion the moment you agree to get married is the moment you become engaged to marry.

I don't get the whole: You have agreed to get married. Have even decided on a year. You've been together to choose your ring.... ... yet you've got to wait for him to 'propose' before you're 'engaged'.

Mrs Drink - i do honestly see your point. I think this all goes back to the "fairytale" dream of what one hopes will happen when you get engaged.

To be fair, my bestfriend recently got engaged - agreed together, didn't really bother with an engagement ring and he never officially asked.

I'd be a little disappointed if that was me - i'd still like the suprize of when my OH will ask, the suprize of how/when/where etc really.
