Starbucks Card Free Birthday Beverage

I noticed this on the Starbucks Card website today:
All registered Starbucks Card holders get a handcrafted birthday beverage of their choice. My Starbucks Rewards will make you feel special all year long, but for this one day you’re extra special.
Can you get a drink of any size and do you simply use the card to get the free drink or do they send you a voucher?

Hi
I have a Starbucks card and normally get an email with an offer on it, which says 'show this to the barista' and as I have a smartphone, I just bring up the email to show the relevant part of it. It's been a while since my last one, but I believe it's got a use-once code on it that the barista puts through the till. Some offers specify the size and type of drink, but I think the birthday reward is open to all menu drinks.
When you register your card on the website, you'll get offers by email and sometimes vouchers/free samples through the post unless you opt out of one or the other. If you don't have a card already, as it's getting near Christmas, ask for a card with £10-£20 loaded on to it and try it out for yourself.
The prices are a bit too expensive for my liking, now I don't have a job, but for me it's the regular freebies offers every so often that stops me switching to another coffee shop.
HTH.

Unfortunately, I think you must have been looking at the .com site not the .co.uk site.
The birthday beverage is available in the US, but not in the UK yet.0 -

Free drinks vouchers at Starbucks are for ANY size drink. Oh and if you get a rewards card, once a year they'll send you a book of vouchers for 50p off any drink, every day for a whole monthUnfortunately, I think you must have been looking at the .com site not the .co.uk site.

That's odd, as I got a free drink voucher this year and last year for my birthday...I took out a card to get the filter coffee for £1. Only 1p more than Pret's - though I have to say I prefer the Pret coffee. Read a thread recently where you can get syrup and whipped cream addd to the £1 filter for just another 20p but haven't done it myself. These coffee shop options are too confusing for me.
When you use your card, it's 50p off any size filter drink. It's also a free extra shot of espresso or free syrup, this is applied even if it's already in the drink (example: caramel frapaccino - you get the caramel syrup knocked off the price) My favourite offer is when you buy a bag of beans (which they will grind for you) you get a free tall drink of your choice...mmmm...white caffe mocha
Oh yeah and you get free WiFi if you register your card on the websiteIf it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I never get anything! I have a Starbucks card, got the 50p off any drink for the whole of december (but wasn't possible to use on the £1 filter coffees I buy) but nothing else since. No birthday offer nothing!0

Just ditto'ing Meepster. I just wasn't 100% on a few things.
It works out better value for me all round compared to Costa Coffee and Cafe Nero. Especially the free wi-fi haha
