Just to point out, the domain quoted was registered in 2004 so it is not exactly a new domain registration, also the details relating to the domain list it as registered to a person in Kent, which is easy enough for someone to see if they wish, but I won't post the details here.

A quick search on The WayBack machine reveals that there has been an active site on the domain in question since 2004 when the domain was registered.

    See http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.cupidsdatefinder.com

The current design has been in place since the end of 2004, prior to that it was a different one. Anyway...

I'm just wondering if the 2 people on this thread that are plugging it, are actually affiliated or not? Since they both have their locations listed as being from Kent as well and besides, advertising is against the rules. In this case you get a free trial, in the hope you pay and continue membership after that expires so it is not a non-commercial link either.

I was just pointing it out because it looks like too much of a co-incidence to me that there is no connection at all and advertising is against the site rules, regardless of money saving. There is a difference between posting something to allow people to get something for free or a saving and doing it to although give someone a saving, but also to increase the userbase / allow site promotion.

    If you look here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=305655

It clearly states no advertising in the manner in which this has been done.

The reason I pointed out what I noticed is because, if there is any link and this is just promotion of this site, then it should be done in the correct manner and not under the guise of a saving, by giving a free years membership. That site quite frankly, looks rubbish and probably is. I can do a quick search on Google and find 100 sites that are better and all offering free trials, so it's not really money saving in the sense people can't get a deal, on a better site as well, without using this site.
  • I joined the site yesterday and am still waiting for a validation email from them. I'm afraid i have no patience with things like this so i wont be bothering to chase it up.

Weight loss challenge started 3/1/07= Target 5 stone/ loss so far 3 stone and 4lbs (yay!)
  • Ok thank you for explaining jason, but without plugging "Cupidsdatefinder" the site is actually far superior to a lot of sites out there as it has video chat, online shop, and much more, so I'd say this makes the other free sites look pretty cheap, all I was doing was to let ppl know about the site, and now I end up having a debate about whether its being plugged, if you go there your self you will see its not a con as i can now see as a member lots of ppl joining all of which are being upgraded to gold as I was, and as its giving a years free membership surely this shows its no scam,

No problem. I've never stated it was a scam but I was asking about any affiliation give 2 people posting about it are from Kent and the site domain name is registered to someone there, if people want to sign up then fine, but again, free trials of dating sites are as common as ducks at a park. If anyone wants to join up feel free, but there are plenty of others available.
  • Site doesnt display very well on firefox. The search boxes are over the text "quick search" at the top left.

Also, doesnt seem to be any way of searching by locaiton...so bit pointless really...

Sorry - but the type of post like the one above makes me even more suspicious of your intent. You seem DESPERATE to plug this one site in a really OTT way, and it's the one and only thing you've done here.

Curious fact: Do any sort of random "quick search" in the top left and see when all the resulting people were Last Time Online! Yep, usually a year ago. You might conclude from that this is a site on its last legs and desperate for the publicity you are now trying to give it.

    Post reported.

Got to be honest, I've been a member of quite a few dating websites over the last five or six years, and this one really isn't much cop at all...
