Really need to get a new job but not getting anywhere.

First thing you need to sort out with your current employer the salary issue.
5 jobs to apply for is not many, but the market is slow - I have noticed this year there seem to be less advertised
in the field needed - no point applying for something you know you can't do.
I've not had many interviews this year compared to last year.
I was temping further afield for a while, so yes getting a mode of transport helps your search but you have to then
think about the costs and travel time - I was getting stuck in traffic jams on a daily basis and it got boring.
However I am now in a role closer to home and I don't like it, like you I could easily walk out but that would be the
wrong thing to do - lucky for me it's a contract so I am counting down the months but it's a job for now.
Would you consider temping? you might even get a higher rate than you do now and some pay travel.0
