Really need to get a new job but not getting anywhere.

I've been trying to get a new job now for the past year and I am not getting anywhere, I've sent CV's to the various places I would like to work and haven't got a reply let alone anything else, I have signed up to online recruitment agencies and haven't got a suitable job let alone an interview. I've applied for 5 jobs through the job centre, had 1 interview for a job I didn't get as the job centre didn't state it needed a string of qualifications.
Now you may say 5 jobs in a year is poor and yes it is but I live in the sticks with 1 bus per day, as I don't drive I am stuck to a 10 mile radius from home as couldn't ask my partner to drive any further.

I am desperate as fear I could walk out of my current job at anytime, I applied for redundancy but they didn't accept it, This week is another week I have to write a cheque with no money in the bank as they didn't pay me, its stupid little things like this I am sick of, I will get my money on Monday but thats no help now with bills to pay etc,

So basically I need out. How can I step up my game here?

you need to fix your transport issue - you won't get anything with the rate of applications you are making, or at least the odds are against you. I think it is time to get a provisional bike license and then pick up a scooter. annoying, but the trade off for living in the sticks.

Or, would you move house for the right job?

I work min wage and rent a house, I have no capital to move. Someone at work told me this week you now need a full license for a scooter as I had been considering it, anyone know if there is any truth in this?

you need a full license *eventually* but you can drive on a provisional for quite a while - 12 or 24 months I think? Have a poke around the DVLA website.

You will need to pass a CBT first before you can drive on the road with your scooter but this is part one of the test, you can take your test much later. Another alternative is to get a bicycle - you won't need a licence for that.

Some agencies with whom you can register online offer free CV reviews. Maybe your CV needs a review as well?
  • Definitely a CV review. I don't know if you watched the program on ITV last night with James Caan, There's this guy and girl who sent roughly around a thousand CV's each and didn't get even a handful of interviews and it all came down to their CVs. The cV is your foot in the door. If you haven't invested any time in it, it won't catch any employers eye.
  • What was I thinking?!?! DOH! I meant black tights
  • Get a push bike? or seriously, I used to do data entry at home and that was more than min wage depending on how fast you are, it's boring but solves the traveling problems.

Can I ask who you did data entry at home for? It's hard to find the legitimate companies amid all the work from home scams!

How do you get into data entry at home? I have my RSA typing 1&2
